Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra on world map

Devendra Fadnavis

Gifted with good oratory skill and a forward-looking mindset, Devendra Fadnavis was perceived as an anti-corruption, self-driven and development-pro CM who was honest to his mission. This reputation helped in the interest of the state in a big way to win many big-ticket projects and foreign investments.

It is not very common to see Chief Minister of a state of India receiving felicitation and award in a foreign land. In the year 2018, Devendra Fadnavis received a rare honour for ‘Outstanding Leadership in Development,’ presented jointly by the Georgetown University, India Initiative, and Centre for International Studies at Washington.

The ‘Outstanding Leadership in Development’ award is a global award given annually to a remarkable leader who could be either head of state or a sub-national entity. The world recognised the development activities in Maharashtra and Devendra Fadnavis as the driving force behind that who is known as a development pro good administrator with a spotless image.

This type of recognition helps in getting assistance from the top financial institution such as the World Bank. It also helps in receiving a good amount of investment. Maharashtra received almost half of the FDI that would come to India and a good number of World Bank projects, during his tenure.

In 2017, Devendra Fadnavis became the recipient of Frost & Sulivan’s “Growth, Innovation, and Leadership Award for Economic Development in India.”
Frost & Sullivan is a business consulting firm involved in market research and analysis, growth strategy consulting, and corporate training across multiple industries across the world.

The award was based on Growth Innovation Leadership (GIL) Index, a robust data-driven indexing methodology that is applied to evaluate each of India’s 29 states over the below mentioned 10 pillars:

  • Digitization
  • Economic Prosperity
  • Education
  • Government Effectiveness
  • Investment Potential
  • Women Empowerment
  • Infrastructure development
  • Employability
  • Health Improvement
  • Mobility Measures

Through discipline in action, Maharashtra as a state as well as its leadership has shown how to make an impact on people and drive economic development. Other states across India should benchmark against Maharashtra’s holistic approach to development and replicate wherever possible. I would like to congratulate the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and his team for achieving this excellence.
