Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis addressed public meetings in Varkala and Attingal, Keralam today on Thursday, outlining the vision of development, governance, and political change under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Emphasizing infrastructure growth, welfare initiatives, and grassroots mobilisation. He highlighted the expanding presence of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. During the event Shri Manoj Kotak, Shri Shashi, candidate Advocate Smita Sundarasan, Shri RG SRM, Shri Manu Prasad, Shri Sanjeev Nayak, Shri Chandru, Smt. Maya Vishwanath, Shri Rajesh Madhavan, Balamurali, Shri Ottor Mohandas, Advocate Anil Kumar, Shri Manampoor Dileep, Shri Srinivasan Ji, Smt. Anubhuti Ji, Shri Jishnu Ji, Smt. Vinadharan, Shri Ananthu Vijay, and Shri Biju Manjkoor, were present on the stage along with other senior leaders and party members.
Shri Devendra Fadnavis asserted that Keralam is a sacred land and expressed his desire to see the BJP come to power there. Shri Fadnavis stated the BJP will form the government in Keralam. There was a time when the BJP would contest elections in Keralam and lose, but the party never gave up. Today, the BJP has a Member of Parliament, a mayor, two municipal chairpersons, 32 panchayat heads, and over 600 corporators in the state. The NDA is steadily expanding in Keralam and that the people are blessing the BJP because it is the only party focused on development, while others are engaged in appeasement politics. This journey has been very difficult, with more than 300 BJP Karyakartas killed, many attacked, and several left severely injured. Despite this, Party Karyakartas did not give up their struggle. He paid tribute to such dedicated Karyakartas and expressed happiness that Shri Sadanandan Master, who lost both his legs due to political violence, has now reached the Rajya Sabha with the blessings of the President. Similar situations existed earlier in Tripura, Assam, and currently in West Bengal, but change has taken place in some of these states. For the past 10 years, BJP governments in Tripura and Assam have been working effectively. After visiting West Bengal, he can confidently say that this time BJP will form the government there as well. Now all eyes are on Keralam. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Keralam has been elevated to “Keralam,” and now the time has come to form a BJP government in the state to protect its culture and heritage.
Shri Fadnavis highlighted that neither the LDF government nor the UDF government has fulfilled even a single promise they made. In Varkala, promises were made to build a high-tech market and an Ayurvedic hospital, but the work was left incomplete by the state government. There was significant publicity about developing an “Ayurveda Global Village” over 63 acres with an investment of ₹200 crore, but no further progress has been made. The current situation is such that hospitals in Varkala lack medicines, doctors, and basic facilities, and no issues of the common people are being resolved. There is no proper arrangement left for the poor.
Maharashtra Chief Minister highlighted that the Central Government had provided ₹25 lakh for the Dakshin Kashi project, but the local MLA showed no interest and no work has progressed. He also highlighted that even after so many years, Varkala continues to face a severe drinking water crisis, causing hardship especially to women. He added that a joint inspection was conducted by NCSS and National Centre for Coastal Research, and a report was prepared regarding Varkala’s protection, but the state government has taken no action on it, nor has any rehabilitation work been carried out. Shri Fadnavis mentioned that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has consistently tried to support Keralam on a large scale, but the state government has created obstacles and attempted to hinder development initiatives. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Vizhinjam International Seaport has seen a rapid increase in container traffic. The project had been delayed for many years due to the state government, but operations began in 2024. The port is now ranked 83rd globally among international seaports, and in the coming five years, traffic is expected to increase significantly. He emphasized that this growth will greatly benefit Keralam and lead to large-scale employment generation in the state.
Shri Fadnavis noted that bunkering facilities are being strengthened in Keralam alongside the expansion of railway infrastructure, with the Union Government envisioning transformative projects such as a dedicated logistics park to boost the state’s connectivity and economic potential. He highlighted that since the coming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led government, railway development in Keralam has received a significant push, reflected in enhanced investments, the introduction of modern trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat, and the ongoing redevelopment of numerous railway stations. Shri Fadnavis further pointed out that a dedicated rare earth corridor is being developed in the state to facilitate the efficient transportation of key minerals and metals as part of a larger national logistics plan. He added that under the Bharatmala Project, major highway expansion initiatives are underway, improving north-south connectivity and integrating critical routes such as National Highway 66 with emerging infrastructure networks, which will significantly boost Keralam’s industrial growth, tourism, and overall economic landscape.
Maharashtra Chief Minister asserted that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India has continued to advance its development agenda despite global uncertainties and geopolitical tensions involving regions such as the Gulf and countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and South Korea, as well as several European nations. While many countries have faced disruptions and restrictions, India has maintained stability without imposing limitations on essential commodities, reflecting strong governance and diplomatic balance. He noted that major infrastructure and welfare initiatives have been rolled out across Keralam, including pipeline infrastructure in Kochi to ensure uninterrupted access to water, along with smart city missions in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram that are modernizing urban spaces and improving quality of life. The Central Government continues to work with the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas,” ensuring inclusive growth across sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, small businesses, and social welfare.
Shri Fadnavis stated that through initiatives like the Mudra Yojana and other welfare programmes under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, women and youth in Keralam are gaining access to new avenues of employment and entrepreneurship, promoting inclusive development. However, he criticized the governance model of both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), highlighting that successive governments have failed to deliver on their promises and have mismanaged key sectors. He expressed concern that Keralam’s education system, once considered exemplary, is now facing serious challenges, and that several central development initiatives are not being effectively implemented. Referring to Keralam as the sacred land of Adi Shankaracharya, Shri Fadnavis said that both LDF and UDF have collectively failed the people, accusing them of misleading the public through political theatrics rather than delivering real governance.
Maharashtra Chief Minister further observed that there are instances of corruption and protection of wrongdoers, corrupt CPI leaders have proximity to figures such as Sonia Gandhi and demanded that if there is true commitment to transparency, such cases should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for an impartial probe. He also raised concerns about the mismanagement of properties belonging to communities, which has contributed to public dissatisfaction. At the same time, he emphasized welfare-driven governance, highlighting efforts to support the poor through pensions, free essential services, and schemes aimed at empowering women and economically weaker sections. He underscored the importance of electing educated and capable representatives who can ensure effective implementation of development programmes. Shri Fadnavis urged the people of Keralam to support leadership that promises transparency, inclusivity, and progress, stating that the time has come for change and for ushering in a new era of development in the state.
Shri Fadnavis highlighted that over the past ten days, an extensive padyatra was carried out across every panchayat in the constituency, covering nearly 160 kilometers, demonstrating an unprecedented level of grassroots engagement by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Despite challenging weather conditions, including intense heat, people from all walks of life, including women and children, actively participated in the march, reflecting strong public enthusiasm and commitment. Direct interaction with nearly 2,000 residents during the journey has significantly boosted confidence, as a large section of the population, including traditional supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress, expressed a clear desire for change in Attingal. He emphasized that this growing sentiment must now be converted into votes through intensified door-to-door outreach in the final days of campaigning. The opposition appears uncertain and disorganized, while BJP Karyakartas are motivated by strong past performance and ground-level support, expressing confidence that continued efforts at the grassroots will lead to electoral success.
